Hilary developed her passion for food while traveling through Europe and living in Copenhagen, Denmark. Upon returning to the States she enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program at The Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan. After graduating she worked at restaurants in New York including Tabla and Eleven Madison. Seeking a life outside of big cities, she moved to Burlington Vermont where she worked as Sous Chef at several Burlington eateries as well as The Inn at Shelburne Farms - a 1400 acre non-profit environmental education center and working farm located in Lake Champlain in Shelburne Vermont. Hilary moved to Lancaster County and started The Scarlet Runner in 2012.
Jason has more years in fine dining service than he’s willing to discuss! Since the beginning of his career, Jason has established relationships with serious chefs eager to share knowledge, techniques and principles fostering a great understanding of where our food comes from, who grows it and how their standards translate to what makes food taste great. With experience in Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, New Orleans, Baltimore and Oaxaca, Mexico, Jason takes pride that he always works with chefs who are determined to provide their guests with the highest quality ingredients available.
Following many years of service in top restaurants around the country, Jason found his true calling and passion off-premises catering. He worked for the top caterer in Philadelphia and apprenticed under the guidance of “the best in the business”. He quickly rose to become an event manager and then an event planner. He has personally overseen at least 300 weddings and an even greater number of corporate and private social events in “some pretty spectacular places!”
Two years ago, Jason moved to the City of Lancaster to reap the rewards of a vibrant urban environment surrounded by natural beauty and endowed with world class produce. He soon discovered The Scarlet Runner and knew it was meant to be.
